From the very beginning, life for Oscar was marked by hardship. Abandoned by his parents at just six months old, Oscar and his six siblings were raised by their grandmother under difficult circumstances. Life outside of Casa Aleluya orphanage meant survival — with even the youngest children working just to afford food. Memories from that time are scarce, but the challenges were real: growing up around gang violence, living in dangerous neighborhoods, and facing the daily fear of uncertainty.

At the age of 8, Oscar’s life changed when he was welcomed into Casa Aleluya. Leaving behind everything familiar was terrifying, but within the walls of Casa, Oscar found not just shelter — he found faith, hope, and a family. Guided by the love and teaching of Pastor Mike Clark, Oscar learned about God for the first time and began to rebuild a life founded on faith, values, and resilience.

For nearly 13 years, Casa was Oscar’s home. It was where he grew spiritually, learned the importance of integrity, and discovered the strength that comes from believing in something greater than himself. Yet stepping out into independent life brought new challenges that few could imagine.

Now 21 years old, Oscar is navigating the harsh realities of living alone for the first time. Without the security of Casa and the comfort of siblings around, loneliness and insecurity are constant battles. Simple necessities — food, a bed, a sense of safety — are often out of reach. Despite completing high school, job opportunities are scarce, and many employers require experience that Oscar has not had the chance to gain.

But Oscar refuses to give up. His dream is to finish college, to build a stable life not just for himself, but to one day support his sisters as well. Having a stable job and financial independence means having dignity, security, and the ability to move beyond survival into a life of purpose.

When asked what he would say to someone willing to help, Oscar shared:
"I would be very grateful because life out here is very difficult and dangerous. Every day is a risk, and the truth is I need help — and I am grateful to the people and to God."

Oscar's Immediate Needs

Oscar is starting from scratch with very little. He is in urgent need of basic household essentials to create a safe and livable home. Here’s how we can help furnish his apartment and provide stability:

A Stove and Refrigerator for cooking and food storage

A Sofa for comfort and to help make his apartment a home

A New Bed for restful sleep (he currently has none)

Money for Groceries to ensure he has enough food for at least 2+ months

Help with Rent and Utilities to cover basic living expenses as he gets on his feet

In just a few weeks, my church, Steele Creek Church, and I will embark on a powerful mission trip to Guatemala. Our hearts are set on serving alongside Casa Aleluya, a children’s home that has transformed the lives of thousands of abused and abandoned children. As we prepare to go, I’m reaching out to you with a simple, urgent request: we need your help.

Why Casa Aleluya?

Casa Aleluya was founded in 1989 by Mike and Dottie Clark—two people who responded to God’s call after experiencing tremendous personal loss. With nothing but faith, five children, and $2,000, they moved to Guatemala to follow God’s voice. What began as a leap of faith has become a life-giving refuge for more than 6,000 children over the past three decades.

Today, Casa is home to around 200 children, ranging from 6-week-old babies to young adults in college. Every single child has come to Casa by order of the court system due to severe abuse or abandonment. These kids are more than numbers—they are stories of heartbreak, resilience, and incredible transformation.

At Casa, children receive not only food, shelter, and education—but most importantly, the unconditional love of Christ. Many have never known the security of a safe home or the embrace of someone who truly cares. Here, they experience both.

What We’ll Be Doing

During our time in Guatemala, we’ll be:

Serving at Casa Aleluya, spending meaningful time with the kids

Building homes, laying concrete floors, and constructing stoves for families in need

Distributing food and water filters in local villages

Evangelizing and spreading hope in communities where resources are scarce but hearts are open

One of our greatest opportunities will be to simply love on the children—to play games, laugh, share stories, and remind them that they are seen, they are valued, and they are loved by Jesus.

This summer, I have the incredible opportunity to step out in faith and serve the people of Colombia — a country full of beauty, resilience, and a deep need for hope.
As part of my broader mission work this year, the Colombia trip will be a time focused entirely on evangelism, outreach, and spreading the love of Christ to those who need it most.

From July 3rd to July 14th, I’ll be traveling to Colombia alongside a team of believers with one goal in mind: to share the Gospel and meet people where they are, both physically and spiritually.
Through prayer walks, community outreach, and street evangelism, we hope to touch lives, build relationships, and remind people that they are seen, known, and deeply loved by God.

Why Colombia?
Colombia has a rich history and culture, but it has also endured decades of hardship — violence, displacement, and social unrest have left many searching for hope beyond the circumstances around them.
The mission to Colombia is about meeting these communities in their pain and showing them the everlasting hope found in Jesus Christ.

What We Will Be Doing:

Evangelizing through one-on-one conversations, group worship, and public outreach events

Distributing resources such as Bibles and food where possible

Partnering with local churches to strengthen ongoing ministries after we leave

Praying for families, youth, and leaders in the communities we visit

Offering encouragement, support, and practical love to those who are hurting

This mission is not just about what we bring — it's about being present, being available, and letting God move through every conversation, every prayer, and every act of kindness.
